Happy Earth Day! 🌿

Who planted a tree today? Didn't use a plastic straw? Picked up trash?

Wouldn't it be great if everyone was conscious of the Earth on a daily basis instead of one day out of the year? As an outdoor enthusiast and plant lover, I'm aware of what's affecting our Earth such as trash and the visible things you see daily. However, sometimes I forget about the other things that aren't always visible that take a huge toll on our environment such as clothing.

MY FAVORITE SUSTAINABLE BRANDS

Alternative Apparel

You're actually wearing recycled bottles when you're wearing alternative. Nordstrom Rack seems to have a solid stock of basics from alternative apparel. The camo set I shared a few weeks ago is Alternative Apparel and $60!

Grove Collaborative

This is my go-to place to order all of my cleaning products...and now a few of my favorite beauty products! Not only do they only carry clean products for your household, they also invest in a brighter future. They are a Certified B Corporation (doing good for people, animals, communities, and the planet). They offer products that are gentler on the earth, prioritize post-consumer materials for packaging, and carbon offset every shipment that goes out the door. My favorite part....a portion of every Grove shipment goes to the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees across the US with a goal to plant ONE MILLION new trees over the next three years!

I've linked the items that I always keep in my house below. If you've never used the Real Simple Clean - No Iron Fabric Wrinkle Release, it's magical!

Free People's Econyl Line

While I can't speak on behalf of actually owning these items, I did jump out of my seat with excitement last week when I opened the email about them. The fabric, ECONYL, is "100% recycled fiber made with discarded waste collected from landfills and oceans. For every pound of ECONYL used, we avoid 6.3 lbs of CO2 emissions." It says it's super soft too so I'll definitely be ordering some of these goodies.

KREWE Sunglasses

I think it's safe to say you probably love KREWE eyewear as much as I do! I get questions about them every time I wear them. You can tell their quality and craftsmanship every time you put them on your face. I now have 2 pairs and cannot complain one bit about anything on them. Made in New Orleans with high-quality materials, these are sure to last a lifetime!

I own the Earhart Blinker Metal Aviator Sunglasses and they are my everyday go-to! The protection on the side seriously keeps all the sunlight out of my eyes in the most fashion forward way possible.

I also own the St. Louis Round Mirrored Sunglasses in Stella and love these for cloudy days. With reflective lens, they are best for cloudy days.

Reformation

I know this is a major go-to when purchasing sustainable clothing and for good reason! They have the best basics at affordable prices plus their dresses are always to die for! On their website, they go into detail about their sustainable practices and you can even schedule a tour to see where the clothes are made in LA.

Here are a few picks (that I wish were in my closet):

Errant Clothing

Errant "creates elevated, effortlessly versatile, yet wearable pieces that offer comfort without sacrificing style." This is a somewhat newer brand, launched in 2015 in Los Angeles by Anna Ehrler. I've scored some amazing everyday basics that have become an important staple in my closet.

Thrive Causemetics

Get $10 off your purchase of $50 with this link. (These products make a great Mother's Day gift!)

All of their products are vegan, 100% cruelty-free formulas containing proven ingredients without the use of parabens or sulfates.

What I love:

Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara - Best. Mascara. Ever! I'll never use another mascara again. It creates so much volume but the best part is that it comes off easily when washing your face and doesn't put up the horrible battle I'm used to with my last mascaras.

Instant Brow Fix Semi-Permanent Eyebrow Gel - Love this stuff too! It's super easily to brush on with my micro bladed eyebrows to have clean, full brows.

Lip Mate High-Shine Reviving Topper - Ok, you've guessed...I LOVE this stuff too! It's so hydrating that I even put it on before the gym so my lips stay hydrated the entire time.

OTHER EASY WAYS TO CUT DOWN ON YOUR DAILY IMPACT

  • Use recyclable trash bags. I use these Hefty Trash Bags.
  • Support local restaurants that focus on composting and recycling all materials. I love Vital Root here in Denver! No waste produced.
  • Carpool
  • Use less toilet paper. When we were in Mexico I constantly thought about using less toilet paper because I couldn't flush it. I've tried to implement using less now that I'm back in the US just because it's wasteful.
