Off season in Vail - A best kept secret
Itโs our first year living in Denver and weโre trying to learn all the ways to enjoy mountain weekends. We wanted (or needed?) a quick getaway out of the city.
They said it was off-season (I'd say it's never offseason...) in Vail for the next few weeks so we took full advantage of the discounted stay and booked a last minute vacation! We stayed at the Sebastian Hotel and I cannot complain about one thing throughout our weekend stay. It was amazing!

We arrived Friday evening after a little bit of a scary drive. Side note: We are in the process of buying a 4 wheel drive SUV for our weekend trips. On the way there, we were going down large mountains and our breaks were shaking and felt like they couldn't stop the car. Andrew and I both were sitting in silence for minutes until I said: "So if the breaks won't work, are you going to put on your flashers and just try and not hit anyone and then figure out what to crash into that will hurt us the least?" Andrew was a little annoyed of this since he was already stressing out about it. ๐ Anyways, we got there safe. Whew! New car shopping starts now. After settling into the room with the pups, we were excited to walk through Vail Village to check it out. We ended up eating at Sweet Basil which it was nothing short of amazing! We started with the Ahi Tuna Ceviche and Maine Lobster Potstickers. For my entree, I had the Loch Duart Salmon. Nothing was left behind. After dinner, we walked back to our hotel and called it a night. We had intentions of waking up early Saturday morning to go hike the pups since we had 1:00 pm spa treatments scheduled. That didn't happen. Hey, it's a R&R vaca right?! By the time we got moving, we only had time to walk close by. We walked through the Village to Gore Valley Trail. I LOVED walking by all the mansions. My favorite design is when they use natural elements with lots of natural sunlight. We hiked up the ski trails and the views were gorgeous. We took the pups back to the room and grabbed a quick but tasty bite at Yeti's Grind. It's actually my favorite vegan breakfast burrito I've had. We were cutting it close to our 1:00 pm spa treatments so we hurried back and got ready to go relax at the spa. I got my very first facial! It was very relaxing and purifying, but I still wanted more of my hormonal acne to go away. After my facial, I used their steam room and pool/hot tubs. Their steam room is the best one I've ever used hands down. I'd say I'm a steamer expert :). This one went full blast max steam until you turned it off. I'm talking sitting there for 20 minutes with nothing but steam so thick you can't see a foot in front of you. THAT is my kind of steam room. Around champagne number 3, I was going to get in the hot tub (with my glass) and fell on the first step because I had just had my pedicure and my feet were so hydrated and slippery. Of course, others probably thought it was the alcohol. We wrapped up the spa and headed to Nobu's Matsuhisa for dinner. As you can imagine, Matsuhisa didn't disappoint. It was my vibe all the way.We woke up Sunday morning at a great time...way earlier than Saturday! We grabbed another quick breakfast at Yeti's Grind as we walked the pups. There is a beautiful stream that runs right through Vail Village. I am a huge fan of how smooth the river rocks are ๐!After our walk, we made one last visit to the spa. We checked out of the hotel and had the intentions of walking to The North Face shop to get Andrew, my husband, a light down jacket he found. Of course, he ended up with a new ski jacket. We started walking around and ended up doing some shopping. I got my first pair of Krewe sunglasses which I LOVE! They are so beautiful and unique. I think I might be addicted. We wrapped up our weekend with a quick lunch from Mountain Standard. We heard you it was the place to go so we had to give it a try. It was really good but I definitely liked Sweet Basil and Matsuhisa better!
